Mr. Moss has served as the Highway Commissioner of McMinn County since November 1984. This office is elected county wide every four years. The Highway Commissioner is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all McMinn County roads.
Office is located in Athens on Old Niota Road.

Information Concerning the McMinn County Highway Department
- There are 740 roads in McMinn County.
- There are 793.63 miles of roads in McMinn County.
- McMinn County has four classes of Roads:
Class 1 - 20ft. or more of surface
Class 2 - 16ft. to 20ft. of surface
Class 3 - 12ft. to 16ft. of surface
Class 4 - 8ft. to 12ft. of surface
- The Highway Department takes work requests from citizens for work that needs to be done on McMinn County roads by phone.
- The Highway Department furnishes property owners tiles when needed to connect the property to a McMinn County road. (Up to 24 feet in length and 24 inches in diameter).
- Roads are added to the McMinn County Road Maintenance System when they are built to meet the requirements of the McMinn County Road Standards which are set by the Highway Commissioner and the McMinn County Commission.
The McMinn County Road System is maintained daily by Superintendent Randy Moss, and Supervisor Sherman Williams, directing the operations of four Crew Chiefs:
